Super fun lake to SUP and Camp on near Basalt Colorado!

The main boat ramp bay area on the west side of the lake where the dam is located is where most of people like to SUP and hang out. The main advantage is you have a large bay where there is a no wake zone. You can explore out into the lake and come back to the safety of the bay if weather conditions change.

There are two other put in options farther up the lake.

Ruedi Reservoir is a reservoir on the West Slope of the Continental Divide on the Fryingpan River. It sits about 15 miles (24 km) upstream of the town of Basalt, Colorado, near Aspen.[1] The reservoir is located within the White River National Forest, and straddles the county line between Pitkin County and Eagle County.

Driving Directions

From Basalt, follow the Frying Pan Road about 15 miles east of Basalt to the lake. The drive up the Frying Pan River valley is beautiful. Be careful as the road is narrow and there can be rocks on the road.

PAY ATTENTION TO THE WIND AND WEATHER. SOMETIMES IT APPEARS IN THE AFTERNOONS.

When you come up the scenic Frying Pan Road your first sight of beautiful Ruedi Reservior will be by the dam. It is spectacular! Take your first right and then go right to get down to the boat ramp and the bay where you can set up. There is a small daily fee to enter the area. There are restrooms but no stores.
